Are The American Auto Makers Making A Come Back?

If people continue to buy American cars that trend is likely to continue, and that’s good for our country’s economy.

DETROIT: General Motors Co posted its biggest quarterly profit in six years on Thursday, a day ahead of an expected IPO filing that will clear the way for the US government to relinquish its majority stake in the top US automaker.
GM reported second-quarter net earnings of $1.3 billion, compared with $865 million in the first quarter. The second-quarter profit was the largest since 2004, when the US auto market was still booming with annual sales of near 17 million vehicles and GM’s brands accounted for more than one in four purchases of new cars and trucks.
During the first six months of this year Ford Motor Company posted a profit of 2.6 Billion dollars, and Ford executives expect even better performance in 2011.
This is great news for the Ford Motor Company, and it’s great news for Americans who work for the Ford Motor company; not to mention the economy of our country. Like it or not the motor companies are a huge portion of this country’s economy.
The Chrysler Motor Company posted second quarter earning of $183,000,000 operating profit. This sounds low in comparison to the other two motor companies, but when you think of the difference in size between the three you can understand.
Chrysler could be doing better, like it did when Lee Iacocca was in charge, but considering who the economy is right now; Chrysler is not doing that bad. Obviously is could make better profits, but it’s making a come back, and that is all that matters.
If the economy doesn’t pick up soon the trend of any company making a profit may come to an end; as long a Obama is in charge we don’t need to worry about the economy getting any better. Hopefully two more years is not enough for him to take our country down.
For the moment the auto makers are doing well, I hope it continues. This country can’t afford to lose one of the few all American industries that it has left. We need the big three to survive and thrive. Be American and buy an American car.
The importers do not build a better car now, and they never have. It’s time that the people of this country realize that. We need to support our own country, and the things that it builds. Sadly enough we don’t manufacture a lot of things any more, we used to be the industrial capitol of the world.
Its time that we were again; so people go out and buy American made products. Be proud to be an American, and please don’t become the latest member of the Walmart generation. Let’s build some pride in our country.
