Car restoration TV shows have helped the industry stay afloat during the though times. A lot of good ideas have grown from these TV shows, most car guys will sit for hours and watch these shows. Especially if the car being featured on the show is the same model as his car.
It’s no wonder that over the past eight, or ten years these shows have been popping up all over the place. They feature anything from engine builds, to full on custom car builds, and every time a car guy can learn something new about his car, you will have his full undivided attention.
All car guys, and girls have a natural desire to learn as much as possible about their cars, that is how I got in to the automotive industry in the first place. I wanted to learn mechanics, but mostly so I could work on my own muscle car.
Over the years it blossomed in to a desire to learn about the classic American cars; then in to a desire to learn restoration, and that is how I ended up here writing these articles to help people restore their cars. My passion for classic cars, knows no bounds, I will go almost anywhere, and do anything to farther the cause.
These car restoration TV shows help bring new interest to the industry, in an age where most of the young people are only thinking about computers, or the latest video game on the market, the auto restoration industry needs a saving grace.
You know how people are tuning in to the old boob tube these days. The more classic cars are promoted on that golden box, the more interest it generates in the younger people. It helps cure the Honda, and Toyota blues that most kids get.
As these TV shows are saving the old cars, it generates more buzz for the new American cars also. Like Camaro, Mustangs, and Challengers and this is a great thing for the automotive industry as a whole. People need to get excited about American cars again, instead of looking to the importers.
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against that importers, I just prefer American cars. They are my true passion on this earth, they are why I live, and why I breathe. No matter how bad people talk against them, I will always defend our American cars.
But the classic cars to a bigger extent; because I see them slowly disappearing as time goes on, this is not a good thing. You can give me the green crap, which I do not believe a word of, these cars are a huge part of our countries history.
Car restoration TV shows help to generate interest and keep people restoring them, and building them. We should never allow the automotive history of our country to just fade away to suite any cause. It is up to us to preserve it, and make sure that it never leaves us.
